"Strong Pop" is the newest, sixth album of the Japanese band Lm.C. It was released in April 2012.
The album is similar to previous ones. The band is one of the most recognisable oshare bands and remains faithful to that style.
The album contains calm songs as well as more energetic or even seemingly chaotic such as “Baby Talk”. Heavy guitars mingle with electronic sounds and pleasant melodious voice of Maya. Despite the fact that there are only two members in the official line-up the music is polished and the support musicians are chosen well.
The album begins with and intro and short but energetic melody “Be strong be pop” which invites us to listen to the other tracks. The next song is “ah ha” which also is very lively. Despite that, the songs are sometimes monotonous, especially when compared to the previous releases. However, the band has great potential and keeps on developing new ideas. Maya's voice perfectly suits calmer pop compositions such as "My boy" as well as harsher sounding songs like "Game of life". My personal favourite track from this album is "Goak-on-Soul" for its tranquility and reasonable amout of electronic sounds. The album ends with electronic versions of "Ah ha" and "Game of life". English lyrics are nice, yet Maya's English is not perfect.
The album is very easy to listen. Light optimistic melodies stuck in the listener's head. The musicians' energy is contagious. I'd recommend the release to people who are beginning their advanture with oshare kei and Japanese music in general. I loved it with all my heart.
